Gameplay:For the time Modern Warfare was a franchise changing game. It set the bar forfuture fps games and is still looked upon as the game that really took Call ofDuty to its new heights. The controls are really smooth and ever since this game; every future Call of Duty title has used the same formula as ModernWarfare with a few tweaks here and there. The FOV in these types of games areone of the most important features in the game. It determines how your character looks on your screen. In my opinion the FOV in Modern Warfare is perfect for any size display monitor. These little things help the game(especially in multiplayer) be more visually appealing. The multiplayer mode isfantastic and at the time was one of the most innovative things we had everseen from a franchise yet alone a games company. However, due to the time itwas released there no measures available to deter people from hacking the gameand cheating. This did lead to a lot of people getting trolled in lobbies filled with hackers. This was later fixed when they remastered the game butduring my time playing the original I only experienced two hackers. The levelup system was challenging but rewarding. The camo challenges added a new depth of competitiveness and customisation.
Story:The is incredible…. just incredible. I do not know how else to describe the campaign apart from the fact that it is one of the best campaign’s in Call ofDuty history. Every mission is unique and special and adds more depth to thestory and the characters. The voice acting is incredible and makes you reallyfeel the characters thoughts and feelings. You really dwell deep into the characters personality and for that you really feel a strong connection with them. There is no mission wasted and I guarantee you that you will find everymission intriguing and enjoyable.
Coloursand Lighting: My only wrong with this game is the use of colours insome aspects. This could be down to the time it was developed back before 2007.However, the colours they use are very saturated and sometimes dull. Sometimes the colours work but sometimes they don’t but they did appear to change it whenit was remastered so I won’t hold them to it.
Music: The musicis astounding; especially the main theme. The music really speaks heroism and bravery and honour. Each mission has its own soundtrack and it is clear to seethat they took their time to perfect each soundtrack with the mission type.Music may be a small thing in games like Call of Duty but it helps to capturethe moments in the campaign and adds a little more “flavour” to the mix.
