Terraria: 5/5 (PC Review)

Gameplay: Verysimple controls but can amount to something extraordinary when given the vastarray of things to do within the game. The slight “control” button push helpsthe user to quickly get rid of blocks which would have been tedious to do without it since it is a 2D platformer rpg. The way the weapons work is amazingand smooth. Although Minecraft is better in terms of the aesthetics of the creativity since it is 3D. You can still make a load of stuff in this game and some people go nuts on this game. There is also a huge choice of weapons. Youcan either be a magician, mage, archer and etc. There are always better weapons than yours so it strives you to continue to find these new items. The fact that the world is filled with many things gives the game that replay ability.

Story:Not much of a narrative but in this case, that is perfect since from the get go you are free to do basically anything you want to do. There are a few hintshere and there about the presence of bosses but how you discover them iscompletely up to you. It is magical because there is linear story. The story is based around you and that’s it. In most games this would be bad in this case itis the best way to do it. The progress in this game is well balanced. Forexample, you want to mine a certain ore but your pickaxe is not good enough so you go mine something else make a better pickaxe and mine the thing you wanted and then with that new material you can make and craft things you never thought you could. The boss battles are intense and sometimes difficult but worth it.The loot system is amazing and well done. When you defeat a boss, it drops some materials you will need to fight the next boss. Boss can be replayed over andover again but the cost of some materials. After you defeat the “Wall of Flesh”you get a notification that the world has been filled with new ores and items and that the difficulty is now at hard mode with a ton of new bosses.

Colours and lighting: The game is filled with an immense array of colours that give the game a warm but yet adventurous feel to it. The use of colours is very good. For Example, in the normal parts of the world the colours are very bright and inviting but in the corrupted/crimson part of the world the coloursare very dark and sinister looking.

Music: The musicis sweet and simple and that is practically all I can say about it. As you goto the mines the music gets a bit deeper and more echoic. When you are in the“hell” area the music is loud and abrupt. In the corrupted/crimson part of theworld the music is very eerie and distant but in the normal parts of the world the music is calm and soothing.
